OrthoTraumaBethesda FAQ’s

What is the difference between OrthoTraumaBethesda and OrthoBethesda?

OrthoTraumaBethesda is a distinct organization created to enhance orthopedic trauma care for the residents of Montgomery County, Maryland. We share facilities with the physicians of OrthoBethesda.

Why are the groups separate?

As orthopedic surgeons committed to trauma, we have to make ourselves available to people when they get hurt. That means being able to see you at the hospital, bedside, or operating room whenever the need arises, day or night. This limits our ability to carry on an office practice in the same way that other orthopedic surgeons do. It’s a totally different model, and it requires an entirely different set of training, practices, and protocols.

What’s so special about OrthoTraumaBethesda?

While many physicians treat fractures, the Board Certified surgeons of OrthoTraumaBethesda have spent additional years devoted to training and research in the field of orthopedic trauma. By focusing exclusively on patients with traumatic injuries and complex reconstructive problems, we are able to provide a level of quality and availability that we believe is higher than most. For example, many fractures can now be treated with smaller incisions with newer “locked plates.” We are able to bring this expertise and other new trauma technologies to provide the latest care to our patients. We have crafted evidence-based protocols to smooth the care of the injured patient.
