Physical Therapist

John attended Ithaca College for both his Bachelor’s in Athletic Training and Doctorate of Physical Therapy. After graduating from Ithaca in 2013, he completed his sports residency training at Saint Francis University, and prior to joining Aligned Orthopedics and Sports Therapy in 2023, he was a clinical specialist at Johns Hopkins Hospital where he was a founding faculty member and served as Director and lead faculty for the Johns Hopkins Sports Physical Therapy residency program and as faculty for the Johns Hopkins Hospital/George Washington University Orthopedic Physical Therapy residency.

John has been an American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties board-certified sports clinical specialist since 2015, and has also been a certified athletic trainer and strength and conditioning specialist since 2010. The combination of a dual degree in both clinical and on-field care of the athlete directly influences his philosophical approach to how he treats and interacts with those in his care.

From youth to professional athlete, John has integrated his formal and experiential training with current science and methodologies to formulate a comprehensive approach to getting his patients back in the game.  He routinely attends local, regional, and national continuing education conferences and skill-based courses to further his knowledge in sports rehabilitation and treatments, and has spoken, presented, and taught at several local, regional, and national conferences and continuing education courses.  His clinical interests have influenced his research as he has had publications in peer-reviewed journals and has served as a primary investigator in ACL research. He has a particular interest in ACL prevention, concussion rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, performance-based sports rehabilitation, decreasing injury risk, and the athletic hip.

Outside of the clinic, John enjoys spending time with his wife, kids, and two dogs, and with any remaining free time he likes to go hiking, exploring the National Parks, skiing, running, lifting weights, and visiting local breweries.
